What a trader’s record shows you
There is also a top traders list ranked by performance. It is a good place to start before you know any names.
How to read it well
Look for consistency, not the highest number
Look for consistency, not the highest number
A trader with one race at +40% and nine races in the red is a very different
prospect from one that quietly returns +5% every time. The headline number
hides that. The race-by-race history does not.
Match the record to the race length
Match the record to the race length
A strong record over 5 minute races says little about how a trader handles a
1 hour race, and the reverse is just as true. Compare like with like.
Check how much borrowing it uses
Check how much borrowing it uses
A trader using heavy borrowing swings harder in both directions. That can
win a short race outright, and it can just as easily blow up. Neither is
better, but you should know which kind you are backing.
Remember the winner is decided by return, not profit
Remember the winner is decided by return, not profit
A trader with a small account can beat a trader with a large one. Do not
dismiss a trader for making less money in dollars. See How the winner is
decided.
