You pick a trader in a round and back XP on them winning. You can back more than one trader in the same round, and each back is settled on its own. There are no combination backs, no over or under, and no cashing out.

When you can back

Backing is open from the moment a round is published until backing closes, shortly before the race starts.
There is no cancel and no cash out. Once your back is placed it stands until the round finishes. The only way a stake comes back untouched is if the round is cancelled.Because you cannot change your mind later, the research you do beforehand is the part that matters. See Researching traders.

Backing several rounds at once

You are not limited to one race at a time. Rounds run side by side, and you can have backs running in as many of them as you like, as long as you have the XP available. Each back is settled on its own round, so a race that finishes early pays you out while your other backs carry on.
Different races finish at different times. Mixing a few short races with a longer one means you are not waiting on a single result.

Backing more than one trader in a round

You are not limited to a single pick. Inside one round you can:
  • Back several different traders. Each one is a separate back with its own amount.
  • Add to a trader you have already backed. Placing another back on the same trader tops up your position.
Every back is kept as its own record rather than merged, so you can see exactly how each one finished.
Backing more traders raises your chance of holding a winning back, but it does not raise what you take home for free. Every back pays the platform fee, and the XP you put on the traders that lose is gone. Spreading wide costs you the fee on each one.

Following your backs

You can see every back you have placed, which rounds you currently have money in, and how each one finished. Each finished back shows your net result: what you got back, minus what you staked.
That history is worth reading. Looking back at which of your picks worked and which did not is the fastest way to get better at reading trader records.

If something goes wrong while you back

If your connection drops or you tap the button twice, you will not be charged twice. Incept recognises the repeat and keeps the single back you meant to place.
